Why isn’t the answer 14?

A right triangle with legs 6 and 8 The legs meet at a marked right angle. The hypotenuse c is opposite that angle. Diagram is schematic. 86c = ?

6 + 8 = 14. But is that the longest side?

The legs are 6 and 8. Adding them gives a path along two sides. What about the direct side between their endpoints?

Read the worked example

The legs meet at a right angle, so a² + b² = c². Here, 6² + 8² = 36 + 64 = 100. This gives c² = 100, so c = 10: a length is positive. Adding 6 and 8 gives the 14-unit path along the legs, not the hypotenuse.

Why families switch

Built for the parts
other math apps get wrong.

You have probably tried a math app already. Here is what BodhaIQ does differently, and every claim is true of the product today.

Aligned to what your kid is graded on this week

Every lesson lists its Common Core standard, so you can match it to the class, not to a puzzle of the day.

Instead of: fun but off-syllabus

Progress never drops

Mastery is built from your best scores. A wrong answer can never erase what you have already earned, so a bad day is not a punishment.

Instead of: scores that fall when you miss

See the steps, then try one yourself

A narrated board lesson draws the idea step by step, then hands over a similar problem. The work stays with the student, not with a camera.

Instead of: a scanner that copies the answer

Built for grades 6–8, not dressed-down elementary

Pre-Algebra 1, Pre-Algebra 2 and Algebra 1 are written in a teen tone, with no pets, coins or pay-to-win mechanics.

Instead of: a game that feels babyish by grade 6

For learners. Reassuring for parents.

A place to think,
not just pick an answer.

For students, it’s a question they can work through, an explanation they can revisit, and another chance to try.

For parents, it’s a clearer view of the topics that need attention—and a specific lesson to start with.
